A Message from Jeanetta

I have always been committed to ensuring we all have a level playing field in society to pursue our goals and dreams. To that end, for more than thirty years I have been the President of the Salt Lake NAACP, and additionally, served on various other community boards and committees, including the West Valley City Professional Standards Review Board, the Utah State Bar Ethics and Discipline Committee, and the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce Multi-Ethnic Business Committee.

Additionally, I led the successful effort to change Human Rights Day to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Utah, and have long been on the frontlines fighting for law enforcement reform, hate crime bills, anti-bullying initiatives, victims’ rights legislation, and more. I was also one of the most prominent voices against school vouchers in 2007, leading the charge on a voter referendum which overwhelmingly overturned the legislature’s voucher bill and kept public money in public schools.

I am running for House District 26 to continue my commitment by ensuring you have an advocate in the legislature who will put your interests first and not a political agenda. I have spent my career dedicated to public service and community leadership, and know how to build support across party lines to get results. That’s the kind of representative I will be in the legislature.
